Fuel storage tank question
I have a line on a 200gal gas storage tank for outside use above ground ( cheap & no it dont leak ). Does anyone know if i need to ground the tank?
Thanks |
Re: Fuel storage tank question
Definitely ground the tank.
Be aware that you can cause accelerated corrosion if you connect copper and iron directly together. Google cathodic reaction for more detail. You want to avoid static electricity (bad) but also your tank becoming a sacrificial anode (more bad). Having a few extra gallons of petrol around is a good idea. Have you considered how to avoid the absorption of water? This can be a problem if the fuel sits a fair period of time and is compounded if it is an ethanol blended product. good luck! |

Re: Fuel storage tank question
Our local gas company advise against grounding tanks - not sure why.
